It is quite understandable that one common trait that a person has in his/her sense of reasoning is the word denial. This inherited characteristic serves as a defense mechanism when a person is under scrutiny or being accused of irregularity. More often than not, a person caught lying tries to cause an angry reaction and emotionally in scornful denial, or shall we say sour grapes.
This kind of attitude speaks of self established ego of incompetence in which truth, fact and logic overstepped by lies, prevarications, falsehood and deceptions. Obviously, people who distort facts or bend the truth and later issue scornful denial are the politicians, government officials and ordinary people with problematic minds.
These people are also in the World Wide Web and their commentary, in one way or the other speaks of scornful denial. One reader reacted regarding my report on the Baguio City officials’ failure to follow Republic Act 9003, a law that requires all local government units in the Philippines to totally ban open dumpsites and implement the Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Program of said act as provided.
The reader was in scornful denial when he/she wrote the comment with a big question mark showing his/her disapproval of my report. For God’s sake I am a witness to the daily dumping of garbage collected from the different parts of Baguio City, the Summer Capital of the Philippines which the local officials failed to implement R.A.9003 so to speak. Scornful denial is shameful and the truth really hurts. Sometimes we need to accept the truth even if it hit our ego.
