Jammu,February 07 (Scoop News) – Describing the movement of Scouts and Guides founded by Lord Baden Powell in 1907 as a movement of selflessness, compassion and spirit of service to society, Minister for Youth Services and Sports R S Chib said that there was no better place to start one’s life with mission as that of Scouts and Guides.
The Minister was speaking at the concluding day of 5-day Rajya Puraskar training camp organized by J&K Scouts and Guides here today.
The Minister exhorted upon young Scouts and Guides that whatever they learnt as part of the movement would prove very useful throughout their lives. He said they would eventually be in a position to please the need of the people and society. He stated that as they were part of a worldwide movement with a commitment to do well for others, they would one day feel proud and content when they met the needs of the society through the proficiency of their skills.
Chib said the organization taught the traits of leadership, besides training the students in various ways through the practice of service to God, service to the country and work for nation building by inculcating good habits so as to produce responsible citizens.
State Commissioner, J&K State Bharat Scouts and Guides, I. D. Soni gave brief account of the activities of the organization. He said the Puraskar will be conferred by the Governor, who is the Patron of the organization. He said, out of 18,000 Scouts and Guides enrolled in the organization throughout the state, 149 Scouts and Guides attended the 5-day training camp for Rajya Puraskar. He said that training centre is being coming up to facilitate the Scouts and Guides.
Among others, Zonal Commissioner, J&K State Bharat Scouts and Guides M M Joshi and other senior functionaries of the organization were present on the occasion.
