SDC Award to Young Star Development Organization Drosh

SDC awarded President Young Star Development Organization Drosh.

CHITRAL: President Young Star Development Organization (YSDO) Asfandiar Khan was awarded by Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) on completion of poverty reduction and launching informal and functionary literacy centers schemes in the area. YSDO was given a task in July 2005 by Innovative Poverty Reduction Project (IPRP) a SDC funded organization which was successfully completed in December, 2007. YSDO was given the task of poverty reduction who organized 5 female mini organization and trained women folk and male on pine nut and walnut. They trained local female and male on climbing over pin nut tree, its cutting, roasting, packing and marketing. As a result its market values enhanced 200% as comparative to previous years. As well as they also launched Non formal and functionary literacy centers in the area on completion of the project SDC awarded them for pride of performance and best award with certificate of succession. Inscribing that in inter cooperation Pakistan wished to pay sincere gratitude valuable contribution towards sustainable development in Rural NWFP. Their initiative in obtain challenging context have resulted in our shared success with visible and measurable results in improving livelihood of marginalized rural communities. President YSDO were awarded jointly by IPRP, Project for Livelihood improvement, community based sustainable resources management project and SDC.

Alfalah Young Star Society Drosh committed for providing potable drinking water.
Alfalah Young Star Society Drosh launched 6 water wells for providing of potable hygienic drinking water to inhabitants of Drosh area. The dwellers of the area were badly suffering due to shortage as well as so many patients detected affected by different diseases. On the request local people Al-Falah young star society launched excavation of 6 wells in different parts of Drosh Tehsil. They were funded Trust for Volunteer Organization (TVO) who issued 356000 as first installment hence elites of the area disclosed that fund is not sufficient for completion of 6 wells. President of AFYS Ahmad Diar Khan and elites of the area thanked TVO high ups especially Qaiser Qureshi Regional Officer Swat and Iqbal Jaafar Chief Executive for keeping keen interest in development of this backward area. They also appeal for continuation of TVO support.

Dwellers of Mastuj set in hunger strike.
Inhabitants of Mastuj set in a token hunger strike against under construction of Rest House by Chitral Scouts (local paramilitary Civil Forces). The local people are in the opinion that selected land for rest house is their property while Chitral Scouts claming that they have purchased this piece of land from local people. Some 4 youth set in hunger strike. District Nazim Chitral Haji Maghfirat Shah and District Police Officer Sher Akbar reached on the spot so as to overcome the dispute.
