Reports from different districts of Nepal on the eve of the 10-April constituent assembly poll state that the Nepali Congress Party (NC) and the Emaalayl (UML) have decided to cooperate each other for ensuring their victory against the Maoist insurgents, who have participated in the constituent assembly election as a condition to productively end their 10-year armed insurgency. Sources affiliated with the NC and the UML say that two parties will help each other at least in 33 districts. The main districts for such two-party cooperation conceptualized include Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Chitwan, Rupandehi, Dang, Arghakhanchi, Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Rautahat, Siraha, Salyan, Rolpa, Rukum, Pyuthan, Baglung, Jajarkot, Bardiya, Dadeldhura.
The latest reports from political sources indicate that the NC will help the UML in Kathmandu’s constituency number 10 while the UML will help the NC constituency number 6. Similarly, the UML will help the NC in Lalitpur’s constituency number 1 while the NC will help the UML in constituency number 3.
Likewise, the NC will help the UML in Rukum while the UML will help the NC win in Dandeldhura district. Since it is an underhand compromise, all details have not been obtained.
