Srinagar,India, April, 24 (scoop News) -(Updated) – The Inspector general of Police Kashmir Zone Farooq Ahmad took a review of Police/Security arrangements in connection with Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, 2010 in a meeting at Pahalgam today.
While emphasizing the need to have a close liaison between J&K Police and security forces deployed for the arrangements, the IGP impressed upon the officers of J&K Police to ensure close co-ordination at points and places of public dealing. Later the IGP dedicated “change there store room” at sports stadium Seer- Hamdan which has been constructed by district Police Anantnag under Civic Action programme. He also handed over cricket pitch steel which has also been procured by District Police Anantnag.
Besides, officers of District Police Anantnag and officers of local district formations and CPMSFs attended the meeting.
IGP held a meeting with the retired Police Officers of district Anantnag in which over 60 retired personnel including Gazetted officers participated. The IGP listened the problems of retired Police Officers and assured them to all possible help from the J&K Police.
Arrangements with regard to annual Shri Amarnathji Yatra from Baltal route were also reviewed at an officers meeting held at Ganderbal under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Ifthikhar-ul-Husnain Bari and Additional CEO, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, Saugat Biswas.
The meeting was attended by Civil, Police and Beacon authorities.
Giving details of the facilities made available to yatries previous year, DDC said 2.75 lakh yatries had darshan for which various departments connected directly or indirectly with the Yatra had made facilities available for yatries.
It was told that the PDD would this year establish 12 sub stations besides 8 DG sets. The meeting was informed that power upto Baltal has been restored and rest work would be completed next month. In order to improve voltage, a receiving station would be set up at Gagangeer for which allocation has been provided by the Sonamarg Development Authority.
Regarding health facilities, it was told that 21 camps and 27 ambulances would be pressed into service for which 108 doctors and 220 para medical staff would be deployed on duty. It was also told that 2500 quintals of firewood would be made available at five halting stations.
Regarding drinking water, the meeting was informed that 20 thousand meters pipeline is being laid for yatries each year while road will be ready before Yatra commences.
The DDC urged the officers to maintain coordination in order to make this year’s Yatra also successful and hassle free.
