The Indian selectors headed by the chairman of selectors Dilip Vengsarkar, have preferred a younger crop of players omitting the seniors like Saurav Ganguly,Rahul Dravid and V.V.S.Laxman.The only exception being Sachin Tendulkar, the holder of highest number of centuries in one dayers, finds a place in the one day squad among the youngsters.
For the proposed triangular one day series that is going to be held between India-Australia-Srilanka from February 3 rd onwards and for the one-off twenty-twenty one dayer between India and Australia,the Indian selectors selected a team headed by M.S.Dhoni and the vice-captain being Yuvaraj Singh and other players include Sachin Tendulkar , Virendar Sehwag,Harbajan Singh,Robin Uthappa,Gutam Gambhir, Irfan Pathan,S.Sreesanth,R.P.Singh,Ishant Sharma,Rohit Sharma,Suresh Raina,Dinesh Karthick,Piyush Chawla and Praveen Kumar.
Sreesanth being fit has been preferred to Munaf Patel, for his bowling, fielding and batting talents.Saurav has been omitted.Praveen Kumar and Suresh Raina have been included for their creditable performances in the domestic circuits.Piyush Chawla has been preferred to Murali Karthick.
The Indian selectors have been motivated by the fact that the youngsters alone can deliver in the one dayers.
