Seminar on “child mortality” held in Orissa

“Child mortality” is a sensitive issue in India. “World vision India”-a social organization, has begun a campaign in India namely “child health now”. Although it was decided to decrease the rate of child mortality and implement all important programs related to improvement of “mother’s health”, our nation has not achieved no such remarkable development in these directions.

In a conference, organized by world vision India, representatives from 14 districts with relatively very high child mortality rates in their respective areas discussed this issue with government.

As per available information, during last five years nine million children died and out of this one and ninety five million children died in India due to lack of proper medical facilities and care after birth.

Informed sources say that 303 babies out of one thousand die after birth due to lack of nutritional food and medical facilities in Orissa. In this seminar various steps essential for reduction of child mortality by more that two third were discussed. Now various organizations at national and international levels are trying their best to achieve this goal by 2015.
