Senator McCain with ISIS leader Abu Bakr al- Baghdadi promising the group funding and support, including weapons and arms. Apparently McCain had now idea who exactly these people were at the time? It’s a miracle they didn’t kill or capture him? Whoever was in charge of his security and protection at the time let him walk right in there?
On January 26, 2015 U.S. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) released the following statement on his position that the US must have more US troops on the ground in Iraq and Syria to defeat Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL):
“On ‘Face the Nation’ this Sunday, I reiterated my view that American boots on the ground are necessary to defeat Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in Iraq and Syria. It is obvious that President Obama currently has no coherent strategy to achieve his stated goal to ‘degrade and ultimately destroy’ ISIL.
Such a strategy must include taking an unambiguous stance against Assad’s rule, establishing a no-fly zone to protect civilians and provide cover to our allies on the ground, moving quickly to provide robust support to moderate units of the Free Syrian Army, and embedding additional United States special operations forces and advisers with our partners on the ground.
Until such actions are taken, ISIL will continue to grow and pose an even greater danger to our national security interests.”

Note: In my opinion the Senator’s statement is reckless an ill advised. ISIS is a monster we helped create, in part by flooding the region with weapons and training radical jihadists to fight in Syria.
