SEO is a relatively new niche marketplace, one that many people do not understand or want to deal with time-wise. The process of optimising a website so it appears higher in Google has become a big money maker for some web-savvy SEO companies worldwide. As with many early industries, SEO has become full of many ‘cowboy’ optimisers, companies which don’t really know how to perform SEO, but ones which can talk the lingo and sell to clueless website owners. There are calls for regulation in the industry, unfortunately the worldwide nature of SEO makes it near impossible currently.
