BARA: Seven activists of a Khyber Agency-based banned organisation were killed and three others injured in an air blitz by the allied forces’ jetfighters in Nazian area of Nangarhar province of Afghanistan near the Pak-Afghan border on Sunday morning.
Spokesman for Amr-bil-Maroof-wa-Nahi-anil-Munkar (Promotion of Virtue and Prohibition Vice) Munsif Ali Khan told The News the volunteers of their organisation had killed 15 soldiers of the allied forces just before being hit by the jetfighters. He said the fighters of the organisation conducted a successful attack on a camp of the allied forces in Nazian area and inflicted heavy losses on them.
“After the successful action, when our volunteers were coming back, they came under attack by the US jetfighters in which seven of them were killed and three injured,” he said.
The spokesman rejected the notion that the US planes had violated the Pakistan airspace and carried out bombardment on this side of the border in the Khyber Agency, saying the incident took place in Nazian area inside Afghanistan.
Some other reports suggested that a total of three Amr-Bil-Maroof men were killed and four others were injured in the airstrike by the US jetfighters inside Afghanistan. The bodies of the deceased and the injured volunteers were brought to this side of the border by their fellow volunteers, sources told this reporter.
