Central Urban Development Ministry Agrees To Release Rs. 5 Crores: OSD Sathya Kumar
Proddatur (GR-TYP-BIN): Mr. Sathya Kumar, OSD, Ministry of Urban Development, GOI said that the ministry agreed to release Rs. 5 Crores for setting up a waste water treatment plant to meet the growing demand of drinking water in the town.
Municipal Chairperson Mr. Gurvireddy and Commissioner Mr. Pramod Kumar met Mr. Sathya Kumar in Nagalakshmi’s Hospital on October 23. They had a formal discussion on setting up a sewage water recycling plant.
Speaking on the occasion, they said that the water woes are intensifying day by day in the town. Setting up the sewage water plant is the right decision at the right time to meet the growing demand of water needs, they added. They said that the completion of plant requires funds to the tune of Rs. 5 – 7 Crores and electrical consumption for running the plant may require Rs. 4 lakh per month. They also said that the Principal Secretary Mr. Praveen Praksh aslo agreed to release the funds. The plant needs 0.5 Acre of land and we will have to obtain the permission of state government after the approval of Civic Body, they added.
The Chairperson Gurvireddy said that we will pass a resolution to that extent and send it to the government for the permission. The plant will produce ten lakh litres of purified water after recycling and the municipality will run it, he added.
Aqua Company Representative Mr. Prasanth put the plant model on display and said that TPR would be submitted to the central government soon.
BJP leaders Onteru Sreenivasula Reddy, Kandula Rajamohan Reddy, TDP leaders G Venkateswarlu, P Sreenivasulu and others were present on the occasion.
