Sex and Drugs and Rock ‘n Roll

Ian Dury was on to something, I tell you. Is there a better combo than the headlining trifecta above? I’m hard-pressed to come up with one. So, with that in mind, I’ve started to compile a "Sex, Drugs, Rock ‘n Roll" playlist for Flavorpill‘s weekly Viva Radio show. All the tracks predictably deal with one element of this newly holy trinity, but, to avoid total predictability and general lameness, I’m avoiding obvious choices. I want new music, from new bands. We’re not "sippin’ on gin and juice" here, get it?

Here’s some of what I’ve got so far. I’ve got to make a 60-minute mix, so if you’ve got suggestions, lay ’em on me!

Harlem Shakes — "Carpetbaggers"

Cold War Kids — "We Used to Vacation"

The Hold Steady — Pretty much any: they walk around and drink some more, you know.

Amy Winehouse — Again, pretty much any. She’s a lush. But "Rehab" would be the clincher.

Attorneys — "Madison"

The Gaskets — "Easy Life"

GoodBooks — "Leni"

Frightened Rabbit — "Music Now"

The Little Ones — "Lovers Who Uncover"

The Bird and the Bee — "Again and Again"

Get Him Eat Him — "Exposure"

Ra Ra Riot — "Can You Tell"

Vampire Weekend — "Campus"

The Rosebuds — "Shake Our Tree"

Robots in Disguise — "Girl"

The Blow — "Hey Boy"

Leah Taylor: A type-a hedonist and willing slave to the music, Leah is Production and Copy Editor for Flavorpill NYC, and a sucker for the boys in the bands. In her free time she can be found storming the night, dancing and rawking, and generally living beyond her means. Screw long walks on the beach; she loves NYC, carbohydrates, London, vodka, Mitch, and music. Not necessarily in that order.
