Another case of sexual assault was reported yesterday concerning an Overseas Filipino Worker who was raped by her Arab employer in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The victim, a single mother of three left the Philippines in November 10, 2007 to work as a tailor but ended up as a household help in one of a well to do family in Jeddah. After weeks of working inside a house of eerie environment, the poor and helpless young mother was forcibly ravaged by her possessed male employer.
Because of her dire situation and scary moments in the hands of her flesh starved employer, the woman escaped and ran away to seek help from the Philippine Embassy only to fell pray to another vultures who pretended to provide her help. And this 25th of December 2007, her savior cum rapists, both Saudi nationals, repeatedly raped the Filipina. Fortunately for her, she was able to report the incident to her sister in the Philippines and was immediately made an audience with the RP’s Vice President that prompted the official to take action on her sister’s pitiable situation.
The crime of rape in Saudi Arabia is no longer new to the overseas workers. Filipino men are also victims of sexual assault by their male employers and other Saudi nationals. The problem of rape in the Middle East is already an old issue and it’s happening from time to time.
