Lahore: Punjab Assembly elected President of Pakistan Muslim League Shahbaz Sharif as Chief Minister again after nine years. He is the younger brother of former premier Nawaz Sharif.
Speaker of the Punjab Assembly announced his name as the Leader of the House after he won 265 votes of confidence from a total of 297 votes.
He was the Chief Minister of this province when Pervez Musharraf, the then Army Chief, oustedtheir government in a Military Coup in 1999.
Talking in the Assembly session, Shahabz Sharif termed the 8 years of President Musharraf’s rule as worst of the country. He promised they will end Musharraf’s rule at any cost.
He was elected as member of Punjab Assembly just three days ago. His party had gained majority votes in February elections.
