Srinagar,December 06 (Scoop News) – The Minister for Rural Development and Panchayats,Ali Mohammad Sagar today said that it was Sher-i-Kashmir who with a stroke of pen changed the history of the Jammu and Kashmir State by enacting Agrarians Reforms Act under which 58000 Kanals of land were given to tillers and gave them property rights which changed the life standard of the rural people. Another historical step was free education to all and revolutionised the education system in the State, .Sagar said, adding that our children after completing higher studies are now working in America, England, Europe etc on higher posts.
In connection with the celebration of 105th birth anniversary of Sheri Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, one Day Seminar on the Vision of Sher-I-Kashmir, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah on “Devolution of Power to Panchayats and upliftment of Rural Economy” was today held at Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre, Srinagar.
Ali Mohammad Sagar was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Minister of State for Haj & Auqaf, Fisheries, Law and Justice, . Aijaz Khan was also present there. Students from various Institutions and functionaries of Rural Development Department were also present.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, . Sagar highlighted the numerable and vital role of Sher-i-Kahsmir, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah played by him for the welfare of the common people and development of the State. He said, his 52 years long political carrier is an open book which has been acclaimed not only on the national level but internationally also. Describing Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah a staunch believer of secularism, democracy and communal amity, the Minister said, for these lofts ideals of Sher-i- Kashmir, the world leaders had great respect for him.
. Sagar reminded the statements of the leaders like Gandhi Ji, Abdul Kalam Azad, Pt. Nehru, . Ali Mohammad Jinnah and Saudi Aribia, issued in favour of Sher-i-Kashmir, appreciated his political carrier through which he kept united all the three regions of the State, adding that it is unfortunate that some leaders and political parties are dividing people on religion and region basis.
.Sagar said that Sher-i-Kashmir launcher Maha, Rai Shumari and during this period he remained in various jails, but never desired that people should suffer on social and economic fronts as he was always sincere towards the common man. He said Sher-i-Kahmir was also advocating for settling the Kashmir issue but never initiated steps which could harm the common man in the State, adding that he is still live in the hearts of the people. He regretted that “we do not educate our young generation and children regarding the political role of Sher-i-Kashmir, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah.
The Minister said that Sher-i-Kashmir decentralised the administrative power for the development of all the areas of the State and believed in the empowerment of Panchyats so that not only development process starts from grass root level and also give decisions to the people.
