Shenanigans, when will it end and give respite to the nation whose bleeding economy, political instability and social unrest are causing the Philippines to constantly drift away from the realm of complete emancipation from miseries? Could there be no way out from the inside of absolute darkness full of cunning cotillion of slithering leeches waiting for an ambush?
This, after another controversy rocked anew the PGMA administration of the latest shenanigans involving foreign investors doing hocus pocus business in the country with the same pattern of bribery, fat commissions and immoderate greed for favorable contract agreements that does not comply with environmental and social laws of the Philippines.
The latest shenanigans that the government was embroiled in is the issue of a Korean firm Hanjin, who, according to the reports, had tried to bribed a local official in Mizamis Oriental-south of Manila-where its second shipyard will be located, the other one is in Subic, the former US Naval Base. It can be recalled that Hanjin bulldozed and built condo units inside a protected rain forest used by US military in their jungle training.
The local official who is the Mayor of Mizamis Oriental was berated, scolded and shouted at by the president after the former told the latter of 400 million pesos bribery offered by the Koreans to the Mayor for his approval of the project. The shouting incident has blown out of proportion which prompted opposition senators to call for a senate investigation on the latest controversy.
According to the reports, the Mayor opposed the shipyard project in his province because it will greatly affect the good and beautiful environment of the place and eventually dislocate residents living in and around the proposed shipyard project. It was said that the government have given special privilege investor’s status on Hanjin because of its billions of dollars of investment in the country.
