The Bollywood, Hollywood star Shilpa Shetty’s theatrical journey came to an end, at least for now, on Wednesday night.
Her musical, Miss Bollywood, which premiered in Berlin in September, had its last performance at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London.
Miss Shetty herself was quite excited performing at the esteemed venue.
"I think it is a very proud moment for me, to be performing here at the Royal Albert Hall. Greats like Michael Jackson and the Beatles have performed here so I am really excited," beamed Shilpa.
Produced by Farhat Hussain and choreographed by Ganesh Hegde, Miss Bollywood has 40 dancers from Bollywood dancing to all the popular hits from the last couple of years.
However, the 2.2 million high energy production didn’t quite hit the right notes with the mainstream media in Britain. But that doesn’t seem to bother Shilpa much.
"It really does not matter much because all those people who have come and watched the show have loved it. So I am catering to the audiences," she says.
But does the audience agree?
"To see an Indian show, that’s on for one night, at the Albert Hall should have been sensational, but it really was not," said a disappointed fan.
But not everyone is complaining. While critical acclaim may not have come, for most Shilpa fans, it was thumbs up all the way.
"The music is excellent. It is so full of energy. The costumes were great and the dances were wonderful. Shilpa is beautiful," said an enthralled English couple.
Plans are to take Miss Bollywood around the world next year. But for now for this Miss Bollywood, it’s back to her film projects at home.
