While most actresses begin their careers by doing short film after short film in hopes of one day getting their big break, Canadian actress Helena-Alexis went straight to the top from the very beginning. While she is now in her 20’s, Helena-Alexis started her acting career over 14 years ago after landing a coveted role in the film A Diva’s Christmas Carol.
Written and directed by multi-award winning director Richard Schenkman, A Diva’s Christmas Carol is a modern adaptation of the Charles Dickens’ classic, “A Christmas Carol”, with the traditional Mr. Scrooge being replaced by a nasty pop singer named Ebony Scrooge, played by multi-award winning actress Vanessa Williams, who received a Star on the Walk of Fame in 2007.
Starring as a young Vanessa Williams in the role of teenage Ebony Scrooge, Helena-Alexis was a knockout in the role, which paved the way for the incredibly successful career she has today.
“Just thinking about the film brings tears to my eyes. Playing a young Vanessa Williams, sharing a trailer with her for hair and makeup, and getting fitted for blue contacts, which I wore to school every day after that, was literally a dream come true. I had to pinch myself on set like “Helena-Alexis, this is for real!”” said Helena-Alexis. “The whole experience proved that hard work and dedication really does pay off.”
Helena-Alexis also starred as Chantal in the Gemini Award winning series The Line, which aired on HBO Canada, Movie Central, and The Movie Network (TMN). Created by Writers Guild of Canada Award winners Dani Romain and George F. Walker, The Line takes audiences on a wild ride into the shady everyday lives of a group of drug dealers and the cops who try to keep them in check.
The stepdaughter of a police officer named Max, played by Ron White, Helena-Alexis’s character Chantal is the shows leading good girl gone bad. After her mother gets remarried to Max, viewers see Chantal turn from a straight A-student into a rebellious teen whose only focus becomes her drug-dealing boyfriend, or boyfriends, rather. After taking a bullet during the first season for her then boyfriend Marcus, Chantal begins dating Chris, a dealer who convinces her to start selling drugs as well. Proving her abilities as a dramatic actress, the way Helena-Alexis gets under the skin of Chantal is an amazing testament to her masterful skills as a dramatic acting.
With her destiny clearly laid out ahead of her, audiences across the world will surely be seeing a whole lot more of Ms. Helena-Alexis on the silver screen.
