Shivratri Mela at Khoon, Majalta in Udhampur on March 2

 

 Udhampur/Jammu, February 15 (Scoop News) –  District Development Commissioner, Bashir Ahmad Khan Udhampur, has issued instructions to all the District Officers to establish their departmental stalls in Shivratri mela, Khoon, Majalta, to generate awareness among the people of rural areas about different State/ Centre sponsored schemes.

            As per the circular issued in this behalf, the DDC has enjoined upon the officers to organise camps in this annual Shivratri Mela being organised by an NGO, Destitute And Handicapped Welfare Association (DAHWA) at Shiv Temple Khoon in Tehsil Majalta on 2nd March 2011. The prospective gathering at the Mela shall be educated during the Mela about several welfare schemes of the Government and will also be motivated to establish self employment ventures.

            During the mela a cultural programme by the local students and Cultural Wing Information Department will be presented.                              

  The NGO organises this religious cum awareness Mela every year particularly on the auspicious occasion of Shivratri which is thronged by thousands of devotees from various rural and far off areas of the district.
