Statue Gometeswara Jain pilgrim place in Karnataka
This is a one of the main pilgrim centers of the Janis of the country. The 17 m statue of Gometeswara or Bhahubali is considered to be one of the largest monolithic statues in the world. Every twelve –fourteen years, the Mahamastakabhisheka ceremony takes place, during which the statues was made by sculptor Aristameni commissioned by the Ganga king Rachamalla in 981 A.D.
Jain shrines
Halebidu has three charming Jain temples. The Parasunath temple is noted for its marvelous sculpture. The 12 pillars in its hall are polished to mirror –like brightness. The central ceiling abounds in rich carving. The other two shrines and dedicated to Santhanatha and Adinatha.
Hogenakal –the smoking rock
The Kaveri at Hogenakal is fascinating. It is considered sacred at Hogenakal Coracles are ideal for navigating the rock –strewn River at this place. The Boats move in huge circular motion and can be hired. The landscape is full of misshapen ledges and furrows. It is a place of vintage natural beauty, uncontested, undiscovered and unspoiled.
