Shrine Bill:PDP decries delaying tactics; terms it as match fixing between NC, Cong

Jammu, March 04, (Scoop News)-Peoples Democratic Party today criticized the state government for deliberately delaying important piece of legislation namely Kashmir Hindu Shrine Bill.
During the second sitting of Legislative Assembly, PDP legislators under the leadership of Mehbooba Mufti staged a walkout over matching fixing between National Conference and Congress over the proposed legislation.
PDP legislator Abdul Rehman Veeri, while speaking on the Bill, regretted that government was enacting drama on this important and sensitive bill. He said that Bill was approved by the Cabinet before tabling on the floor of the Assembly but the government was staging a drama only to deceive the people.
As the government referred this Bill to the Joint Select Committee, PDP legislators staged a walkout over drama of the State Government.
Speaking to the reporters outside the Assembly, Ms Mehbooba Mufti said that this important piece of legislation had potential of rebuilding the links of Kashmiri migrants with their roots in Kashmir Valley but the government was not serious.
“The people of Jammu and migrants, both, would be left with a bitter taste in their mouth after the proceeding, which were clearly enacted by both NC and Congress with a prior understanding”, she said.
The people of Jammu, she said, have displayed a great deal of accommodation at the crucial juncture of state’s history in 1990 by hosting the migrants from Kashmir Valley.
The Pandit community too has contributed a great deal to enrich the multicultural social mosaic of Jammu but today’s development could lead to a feeling of disappointment in all the communities as government has failed to backup the decision of its own cabinet in LA for political expediency, she said.
