Leading classical singer Subha Mudgal who was recently on a visit to Pune, for a Music event feels Fusion is not something new to Indian music.
She states ‘there is actually nothing new about fusion. Far before we began experimenting, people have tried to fuse styles, for, a creative person can never tune out. Musicians in particular are exposed to a number of other works’
Speaking on the Indian Music scene she expressed ‘The advancement in communication and technology has facilitated quick access to the music world, Music students today have access to different kinds of stimuli’
It does not look to celebrate a particular genre, style or artist but looks at Indian music in all its diversity. There are some outstanding festivals that celebrate bands, but this one simply celebrates music.
Speaking on her interest towards Social- cultural institutions, she said instutions such as ANHAD and SAHMAT are socio-cultural movements that unite artists to work toward a common cause.
