GUJRAT:Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid-i-Azam (PML-Q) President Shujaat Husain has said his party’s doors are open for PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif and other leaders to join the PML-Q.
Shujaat was talking to reporters after filing his nomination papers as a PML-Q candidate for NA-112 constituency falling in Sambrial area, here on Monday.
National Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Amir Husain, former Punjab minister for industries Ajmal Cheema, District Nazim Akmal Cheema and their several supporters were also present.
Shujaat said the PML-Q did not feel any compulsion to accept PML-N leaders back to its ranks, however, he would welcome the Sharifs to join the party if they wanted to do so. He said the PML-Q would sweep the Jan 8 general elections.
Earlier, Shujaat was brought here in a big procession on Monday afternoon where he was accorded a warm welcome.
Col Sultan Sikandar of the Pakistan People’s Party and Murtaza Amin of the PML-N are to contest the upcoming elections against Shujaat at this constituency.
The police made special security arrangements for the event. They installed barricades on various city roads due to which huge traffic jams were witnessed, causing huge inconvenience to public, especially to girls students of local schools and colleges.
Chaudhry Amir Husain also filed his nomination papers for NA-111 constituency falling in Bajwat area. He was also brought in a big procession of his supporters.
