SIE holds Workshop on Elementary knowledge of Urdu
JAMMU, December 16, 2013 : State Institute of Education (SIE) Jammu holds six days workshop on elementary knowledge of Urdu for Hindi knowing teachers. This workshop was inaugurated in a function held here today in which Sh.H.R.Pakhroo, Joint Director Trainings/Principal State Institute of Education (SIE), Jammu was the chief guest and S.K.Raina, Field Advisor SIE, Jammu, graced the occasion as guest of honour. A total of 50 Hindi knowing teachers and masters deputed from the ten districts of Jammu division attended this event to enhance their basic understanding of Urdu language. While speaking on the occasion, H.R.Pakhroo eulogized the initiative of language wing of State Institute of Education for organizing the workshop for the promotion of learning of Urdu particularly for Hindi knowing teachers of the department. “We teach the students in Urdu language and explain things to them. So, these people who are all teachers in different schools come here to learn in this workshop. The teaching here is all activity based, which helps them to learn and help in the promotion of the language,” Said Pakhroo.
Shadi Lal Tengloo, Field Advisor and Head Language wing in his address gave the detailed account of the objectives and importance of this workshop.
S.K. Raina, Field Advisor complimented the organizers for conducting this specialized workshop for imparting basic knowledge of Urdu to Hindi knowing teachers. Such types of courses and workshop have indeed a great bearing on the promotion of Urdu language, maintained Raina.
Tahira Parveen, Research Officer Urdu and co-ordinator of workshop informed that SIE will organize similar programmes in future to promote Urdu, the official language of the state.
She also appealed to the government to encourage Urdu related activities in the state so that the official language of the state gets its due share.
