Srinagar, October 31 (Scoop News) – Minister of State for R&B, Javed Ahmad Dar has said that Sikh community of the State have offered lot of sacrifices since Independence for keeping intact the secular fabric of the State.
The Minister was addressing at 64th anniversary of Shahidi Divas, organized at Gurdowara Shaheed Marg Satharana in Rafiabad to pay homage to those Sikhs who have laid down their lives in 1947.
Recalling the slogan of Sheri-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah “ Hindu-Muslim-Sikh Itihad” the Minister said that people of the state have always maintained brotherhood and each community proved it practically by way of strengthening and maintaining the communal harmony in the State even in difficult times. He said Sikhs have worked wholeheartedly for the betterment of the State, and that their sacrifices for saving nation from enemies aggression is a notable part of our history.
Responding to the demands of the management of Gurdwara, the Minister instructed engineers of R&B department to take up renovation and up-gradation of the approach road leading of Gurdwara. He also released Rs. 2.90 lakh, out of his constituency development fund (CDF), for fencing of Gurdwara.
The Minister also instructed for construction of protection bund on one side of Gurdwara besides installation of two solar lights. Regarding improving water supply position in the area, the Minister said by commissioning of Dazna-Satharna water supply scheme expected by next month, water supply problem of the area would be redressed.
