Kabul: 6 Nato and 3 Afghan soldiers have been killed and 8 Nato and 11 Afghan soldiers wounded in a bloody ambush by the Taliban insurgents in Eastern Afghanistan Friday evening.
‘A combined element of Afghan and ISAF forces was ambushed with small-arms and rocket propelled grenades by insurgents from multiple positions while on foot patrol. The combined force repelled the attack with small arms, machineguns, mortars, artillery and close-air support’ says a statement issued by Nato-led ISAF forces in Afghanistan.
‘The remains of an insurgent were recovered following the initial contact’ the statement added.
The statement has not stated which province the incident took place in but a spokesman to the Taliban insurgents Zabiullah Mujahid from an undisclosed place told media on phone that his militants has attacked on ISAF forces in the Waant district of eastern Nuristan province.
It is the bloodiest attack on ISAF forces in eastern Afghanistan since the forces have ousted the insurgents. The insurgents have vowed to use all their measures to end the invasion.
