Skill Development in India: SLIEM Skills Lead the Way

Skill development deals with developing a person’s skill set in such a way that they add value to an organization and also to their own career. In India, 12 million people are added to the workforce every year. However, of all, only 4% are formally trained and so the percentage of ready workforce available to us is really minimal and scary. It is not that monetary allocation is any less by the Government of India, rather there is problem in execution. The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) is an aggregator in the sector and it acts as the coordination agency when it comes to skill development.

The pride of Sliem Skills has been the excellent placement offered by it. The companies which have come there to recruit students are Capegemini, TATA Consultancy Services, G4S, Shoppers Stop, Bharti, Vodafone and innumerable other companies.

Regular competitions are held where the students show off their skills and are awarded for it. On top of that, minority classes have been started for their benefit along with the MoU that was signed with West Bengal Minorities Development & Finance Corporation.
