I noticed that the cut and fit of jeans has gotten much smaller over the years. I tried to find the reason behind the slim fit, low ride, low waist jeans when in fact…people are fat.
Some of the major brands have decided that they will allow the poorer nations to cut, stitch, and sew the clothes we wear. Unfortunately, they will just concern themselves with the volume not the quality of the clothing.
If you want to wear a pair of jeans that fit over your butt, no matter how big or little, you will probably have to go to about 78 stores and try on different sizes, different styles, and different brands to yield one pair of great fitting jeans.
The dilemma then becomes, exactly what is great fitting jeans?
Great fitting jeans do not show the top of the butt (also called butt creep) or the love handles that hang off the side of the waist (also called the muffin-look).
Great fitting jeans will not show extra lines in the back of the thighs demonstrating how tight the jeans are fitting.
Note: some slender women can actually fit these jeans so, by all means, get jeans that fit your shape. Unfortunately for the rest of us, we must persevere to find jeans that fit.
Since we are not all shaped the same, I’m confused by what is the ‘standard’ sizing used by these major brands. Who are they making clothes for? Stick Figures??
Since we all don’t live outrageous, socialite, and globe-trotting lifestyles that would require the low cut jeans, deep cleavage tops, and backless, strapless, less-ness clothing that is thrown down our throats every time we walk into a mall, how about making clothes for the rest of us?
I propose a revision to the current size charts –
Junior Clothes will begin at size 3 and end at size 11
They will have a longer rise and a slimmer fitted waist – because they need their entire butts covered and not show butt creep! And, usually teenage girls have slimmer waists than their older counterparts.
Misses clothes will take over at size 12 and go up to size 18
They will have a relaxed fit that usually means, you’ve relaxed your ‘going to the gym 5 times a week’ routine. You need your butts covered too! But, you could use a looser fitted waist that will encase the love handles smoothly and still allow for a belt to hold it all in! The brand companies have some nice belts now so please use them!
Queen clothes will begin at 20 and end well….they’ll just end when every woman can fit her clothes without looking like a giant whale.
Although I have yet to find the best fitting jeans, I will keep my standards high and assist where I can… because no woman should want to see another woman looking tacky and not say anything. It’s unfortunate that some women have low self-esteem or no fashion sense or some reason to want to look like a tramp.
We should all unite though and tell these major brands that we don’t want tacky, overpriced, and flimsy clothes. We want real clothes that will flatter our shapes, no matter what shape we’re in.
More to come…
