Czech auto giant Skoda, part of German automaker Volkswagen, is stepping up the gas in India and plans four new launches by next year, which will see the company entering the small car, MPV and SUV segment
Speaking at the launch of Skoda Superb 2.0TDi PD (Diesel) & 3.6V6 4×4 (Petrol) in Bangalore yesterday, Thomas Kuehl, Board Member, Sales and Marketing, SkodaAuto, India, was quoted,
The diesel engine is the familiar 2.0 Litre TDi which comes with pump duse technology rather than the CRDI mated to a 6-Speed DSG gearbox with manual Tiptronic gear change. The surprise launch is the new Superb with a large 3.6 Litre V6 FSI engine with 260 bhp on tap and 350 nm of torque b/w 2500-5000 rpm and all wheel drive as standard which will give the recently launched Honda Accord a very good run for its money. The V6 version comes standard with a 7-Speed DSG gearbox and delivers power to the road via fourth-generation Haldex clutch variable four wheel drive system.
Skoda claims 0-100 kph sprint in 6.6 seconds for the V6 version all wheel drive version which would make it one of the fastest accelerating car in any class in India.
