Jammu/ Delhi: All India Coordinated Research Project on Agrometeorology of Sher-e-Kashmir, University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu in collaboration with Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture (CRIDA), Hyderabad organized “One day farmers awareness programme on climate Change” at Suchetgarh, R.S.Pura, Jammu today under National Initiative on Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA) in order to sensitize the farmers about climate change and its impact on agriculture and its allied field. In this programme about 150 farmers from nearby villages have participated. Dr. Sanjay Koushal welcomed the participants and briefed about the programme. Dr. M.K.Khushu, Chief Scientist & Head, Agrometeorology explained the objectives of the awareness programme and explained climate change/variability and its effect on agriculture. He said that the climate change has emerged as the biggest challenge for farmers as it is going to affect agriculture sector badly and need to be tackled through use of new technologies. Various other scientist namely Dr.S.K.Singh, Associate Professor, Division of Plant pathology Dr. Vivek Manohar Arya, Asstt.Prof, Division of Soil Science, Dr. Devinder Sharma, Asstt. Prof, Division of Entomology, Dr. P.K.Rai, SMS, Soil Science, KVK Jammu and Mr. Vikas Gupta Jr. Scientist, Agronomy delivered the valuable talk on the concerned subject. Swarn Lal, the Sarpanch of the Village upon the villagers to take advantage of such programs and thanked the concerned organization for conducting such programmes. Dr.Vivek Arya delivered the vote of thanks. Mr. Ravi Pandotra, JAEO, R.S.Pura, Mr.Sanjog Kotru, JAEO, R.S.Pura and Mr. Rajinder Thusu, JAEO, R.S.Pura officials from the Deptt. of Agriculture, R.S.Pura also participated the awareness programme.
