Sky Diving Course by Air Force adventure cell

Jammu, May 24 (Scoop News) –The Basic Sky Diving Course which was going on to mark the occasion of Silver Jubilee of 130 Helicopter Squadron came to an end today morning after more than 280 para jump  by the trainees and trainer. The valedictory function which was earlier scheduled for Saturday keeping in mind the variable weather conditions was also held at Air Force Station Jammu toady. The function was presided over by Group Captain S Sridhar, Station Commander, Jammu.

The event was started with a course report by Wg Cdr Vasant Raj Director, Air Force  Adventure Cell.  Total 31 Air Warriors including 3 lady officers attended this 10 days course and all of them successfully completed with nil injury incidents. He thanked for the whole hearted support of 130 HU and administration of AF Stn Jammu. He also saif that those who jumps minimum five jumps, they are eligible for the Para wing which was achived by all the course participants. The Para Wings and certificates were given by the Station Commander. He also congratulated the participants and appreciated the concerted efforts of all. The whole programme was conducted by Wg Cdr Sandeep Saxena of 130 HU.

Wg Cdr LS Sandhu, Sqn Ldr Rajesh Mukhi, Flt Lt Supriya Mulay, Flt Lt Pooja, Cpl Das are few names who got para wings.

Flt Lt Supriya Mulay a lady pilot of 130 HU who just received her para wings, said “Only a parajumper can feel what the birds feelwhen they fly. In last five days and five jumps, I experienced how true the above statementis. Its been a feeling and experience which can only be felt but can not be expressed. This course has made me achievers, showed me that fear could be controlled, thrilled me beyond imagination and taught me what discipline is. In short made me a better and more confident person”.

Group Captain S Pati, Chief Administrative Officer of the Station said “ The Dte of Adventure has always endeavoured to promote adventure in its true spirits amongst AF personnel and broad base all activities to ensure maximum participation. All activities are carried out in a professional manner keeping safety paramount. Sustained efforts are made to project the right image of the AF and motivate the youth to join the AF. It is this spirit of adventure that has spawned the discovery of new world records in the yester years and forays into the vast expanse of space today. This spirit cultivates qualities of courage initiative, fearlessness and team spirit so essential for ‘Air Warriors’.”
