Small but Mighty Step Towards Waste Management

Everyone thinks of changing the world by making it a better place for everyone to live; where food, clothing and shelter is accessible to everyone and peace reigns the planet. It must be an ideal place to live which is quite perfect, but it is hard to imagine it in the actual sense. We think of the planet degrading each day and celebrate ‘Earth Day’ to make up for the abysmal we have brought to it. We solely claim that it is because of excessive human activities that the planet has gone through extreme and harmful changes. However, it is the human nature to go beyond measures in pursuit of happiness and the luxuries in life, but in the due course of time, humans have realized the depleting resources which may cause a drastic effect on every life form. Since the global issues of global warming and ozone depletion were brought in front of the world, various practices for environmental stability and sustainability have been developed to fight the issues confronted. A responsible need has come forth to involve each individual in these green practices as ‘each drop of water combines to form an ocean’.

Individual Contribution To Waste Management

Among the many practices for environmental maintenance, waste management is one of the biggest concern these days. From factories to homes and groups to individuals, each produces waste. It is gathered and dumped in the landfills assigned by the waste management authorities. To reduce the risk of waste production and the its relation to the other areas of environmental issues, waste is managed properly; but sometimes, the matters are made even worse via improper management. Durable and strict measures are practiced to deal with this contemporary problem. The main rule of environmental stability, which calls to the duty of each individual, consists of the three main Rs, i.e. Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. Following these Rs, anyone can contribute to waste management. But, how can a small step be this mighty? Every goal is achieved by making a progress towards it, no matter how small or large. So, it does not matter how small your step towards waste management is; it is worth it!

Individuals And The Three R’s

We have learned so far that waste can be managed at the individual level by following the three Rs. Let’s peek into each and see how far an individual can manage.

Reduce

Thanks to the measures taken out there for environmental preservation, we are well aware of the resources that are diminishing slowly. To reduce the risk even further, one can use the energy resources only when they are needed and cut out the extra usage. One should keep in mind to preserve the resources like water, electricity, forests, etc. and reduce the use of extra material to avoid waste production.

Reuse

Reuse the material you have. If you are bored with the same old products and items in your use, you may refurbish them or craft them through a variety of methods using your imagination.

Recycle

Do not throw out those cardboard boxes and bottles! You can always recycle the objects you do not need like boxes, plastic, wood, metal, and glass. When these items are recycled through eco-friendly procedures, they are made available in new and different conditions and the chances of the environment being disturbed are reduced.
