CHENNAI, INDIA– The solar eclipse began at 5:52 AM (IST) here. Millions of people viewed the celestial phenomena and in line with Hindu beliefs, took a holy dip in sacred rivers.
It is reported that this solar eclipse is the longest one occuring in this century and the next one will occur in the year 2132. As such, there was tremendous curiosity and interest among the people to watch this and watching till now when this report is submitted. Total eclipse was observed in places like Allahabad, Varanasi and Surat and in other places it was only partial. The scientific community took much effort to dispel deep-rooted beliefs, superstitions and other unfounded fears among public due to the occurrence of solar eclipse.
