Srinagar, August 01 (Scoop News) — J&K Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah said the prevailing situation in the Kashmir valley is worrisome adding that some anti-social elements are hell bend to foment trouble, mayhem and bloodshed in the valley to satiate their political designs.
Omar on Sunday evening appealed to the people of all shades of opinion, media and religious heads to join the government in stopping bloodshed adding that he and his government cannot stop it single handedly. “We should not provide any excuse or opportunity to the anti-social elements who want to build their castles on the blood of innocent youth. Such anti-social elements would not be allowed to play havoc with the lives of the people”, Omar added.
He said that education of our children is the first causality of the prevailing situation as it has come to a grinding halt. Our children are not able to pursue their studies. Their future is at stake and under such circumstances, they shall not be able to compete”, Omar said and appealed to the parents not to allow any body to play with the future of their children.
Omar said “I am not happy with frequent curfews but human life matters more than the human movement”. He said the basic purpose of curfew is to avoid use of force and therefore “I prefer imposing restrictions rather than putting the lives at risk. He appealed to the people to extend cooperation in providing succor to the people” and follow curfew restrictions to save human lives.
Omar made a passionate appeal to the people of all shades to come together not for the sake of politics or power but for the sake of people of Kashmir and their well being. He said my politics is not politics of deceit, intrigue and machinations but is politics of truth, sincerity, integrity and commitment to the people of Jammu and Kashmir adding that from day one, I have advocated withdrawal of AFSPA and phased reduction of Army from the valley but for that conducive atmosphere is a must”.
Referring to the problems of youth, Omar said “they are angry and I understand their anger”, adding that “ I am looking forward to a better future for them”. Unemployment is the single biggest issue. And the Government is committed to provide jobs to the unemployed, Omar said adding that in the coming months his Government will launch a massive recruitment drive.
Omar also referred to the Kashmir problem and said that larger political issue of Kashmir has to be resolved by India and Pakistan and he would want to see an end to the bitterness between the two neighbouring countries.
Omar appealed to the people to join hands with him in his endeavour for speedy restoration of normalcy. He sought blessings of Almighty Allah for restoration of peace and normalcy in the Valley.
