Jammu, March 15 (Scoop News) – Minister for Rural Development, Panchayats, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Ali Mohammad Sagar today rubbished the allegations about conducting police recruitment rally in his constituency on political consideration, saying the drive was carried out as a confidence building measure to address anger and uncertainty prevailing among the youth in the area.
The Minister was addressing a press conference in the Legislative Assembly lawns today.
Sagar said that such rallies would be conducted in several other un-represented areas in a phased manner. He said even Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Ms. Sonia Gandhi wanted to address the alienation of youth through such measures.
The Minister said that PDP should have appreciated the Government for its initiatives to strengthen the institution of MLAs and MLCs. He said funds are given to the legislators and other genuine representatives cutting across party lines purely in the interest of public to boost development, ruling out politicking on the issue.
Sagar said all the legislators including those of PDP are appreciating government ‘s functioning on the floor of the House while participating in the discussion on grants regretting that outside they play politics of region, area and constituencies.
The Minister said PDP is bereft of issues and ideas and has therefore resorted to cheap politics. He suggested the party to play responsible role as an opposition and develop broader vision rather than politicizing on non-issues.
