Altercation with mother may have led to murder. A woman found in a wooded area may have been killed and dumped there by her son. WBLT reports that a Gulf-port man may be responsible for his own mother’s death. Gulf-port Police Chief Alan Weatherford said his deputy’s are in Alabama questioning 29-year-old Ryan Allen Abeyta. WLOX reports that Abeyta’s mother, Pamela Marlene Santiago, 56, of Gulf-port was discovered in a wooded area near Dedeaux Park Tuesday. It appeared her body had been there at least 24 hours. Police received a call Tuesday morning about a body in the woods. Investigators spent about four hours collecting evidence. Once identified, they went to Santiago’s home in the 12000 block of Harmony Circle where evidence of a struggle was discovered. Friends and family members commented to investigators that Abeyta had fought with his mother and that he may have been under the influence of drugs and or alcohol. The Sun Herald reports Abeyta is expected to remain in Alabama pending his extradition back to the state of Mississippi. The body of Pamela Marlene Santiago was found by someone walking along the wooded path. Investigators believe she was strangled by her son and dumped in the wooded area which is just about three or four miles from her home.
