Sopore/Srinagar, June 01 (Scoop News) – In its drive against timber smuggling, burglary and other social evils Sopore police arrested 27 smugglers, a burglar and three eve- teasers.
This was stated by SP Sopore Altaf Khan in a press briefing at Police Station Sopore, today.
SP Sopore said that Sopore police arrested 27 smugglers and huge quantity of illicit timber has been recovered from their go-downs, besides, seizing two Tata Mobiles bearing registration number JK05-1073 and JK05-4153 with illicit deodar, Kail etc. measuring 110 fts.
A theft case that was under investigation was solved, one accused namely Amir Bashir Sofi son of Bashir Ahmad Sofi resident of Noor Bagh Sopore has been arrested. One JCB & Tipper amounting to Rs. 5000000/- have been recovered from his possession.
Giving details of a murder case of Habibullah Dar son of Mohammad Sultan Dar resident of Harityar age 40 years. Police succeeded in solving the case within twenty four hours by arresting six accused. A case FIR No. 143/2011 under section 341, 354,323,302 RPC stands registered in Police Station Sopore investigation going on.
Moreover, Police Sopore has arrested three road Romeos who were indulged in eve-teasers at Degree College Sopore.
Further, one Mohammad Ashraf Lone son of Ghulam Mohammad Lone resident of Zaloora was arrested in fake currency case and an amount of Rs. 10000/- (fake currency) have been recovered from his possession.
SP Sopore added that in order to serve the public in a better way, Sopore Police has started helpline No. 01954-222312 which will be available 24×7.
