(1888 PressRelease) Regional premiere of Tennessee Williams comedy A LOVELY SUNDAY FOR CREVE COEUR by South Camden Theatre Company opens April 29.
Philadelphia, PA-NJ – South Camden Theatre Company, a nonprofit professional theatre organization located in Camden, New Jersey concludes its eleventh season of theatre in the city with the regional premiere and three week production of A LOVELY SUNDAY FOR CREVE COEUR. Opening Friday April 29 at 8p.m. the play is written by Tennessee Williams and directed by Connie Norwood. The cast includes McKenzie Jones Clifford, Lee Kiszonas, Laura Aspen and Sheila W. Kurilla.
A LOVELY SUNDAY FOR CREVE COEUR is a seldom seen heartwarming comedy from American master playwright Tennessee Williams. The play, written later in his career, portrays four women in 1930’s St. Louis Missouri as they struggle for independence in their quest to find love and happiness. Set at a time when the role of women in American society was in flux the four women all choose different paths to do what was necessary to secure their futures and ensure their prosperity. The play’s theme ultimately became the basis for the highly successful TV series The Golden Girls in the 1980s.
Producing Artistic Director Joseph M. Paprzycki states, “I saw A LOVELY SUNDAY FOR CREVE COEUR at the 2014 Provincetown Tennessee Williams Festival in Provincetown, Massachusetts. I instantly fell in love with the play as it shows a side of Tennessee Williams you will not expect and rarely see. This play is a comedy with the brilliant poetry of Tennessee weaved in throughout and with an ending that you only would expect from a writer of this caliber. SCTC is known for its exceptional productions of Tennessee Williams’s work and director Connie Norwood has assembled an incredible cast to take us back in time. I hope that you will enjoy it and that after you’ll remember to ‘turn on the hot and the cold water'”.
