The fight over oil and land at the borderline of South Sudan and Sudan has created negative impact on trade between the two Countries, South Sudan despite of been independent, still depend ninety percent on imports, but unfortunately Khartoum has closed out goods coming to the South Sudan, following the ongoing crisis. Businessmen who import goods from Khartoum cry end to the crisis and appeal to both Governments for immediate majors and resume of the businesses.

“South Sudanese culturally and socially enjoy Sudanese foods just because the two countries were by then existing a Nation and Sudan goods face great market in South Sudan than goods from East Africa, but now we can’t access the goods as the tensions grow at the borderlines” Abdullah Tip a Sudanese business operator in South Sudan disclosed.

South Sudan imports Sugar, vegetables, cloths and vehicles from Sudan, after the declaration of South Sudan independence on the 9th July 2011, South Sudan has witness price increase on commodities in all parts of the country, as Sudan Government imposes heavy taxation on goods to South Sudan. Despite of the interest of the Government of South Sudan to build strong business relations with Sudan, and worries remained as goods prices skyrocket doubling the then prices.

At the Africa Union address in Addis Ababa, the President of the Republic of South Sudan H. E Salva Kiir Mayardit calls for fair commercial engagement and peaceful coexistence of South-North Sudan. “The stability of the two countries strengthens the overall stability and economic viability of both states” Kiir address reads. The Government of South Sudan has put all to keep the relation with Sudan. But how will Sudan understand and open the flow of the goods between the two states was the question of the traders.
