UK investors looking to buy foreign property in Spain have received a boost with the introduction of a new accreditation process.
The international mortgage specialist Conti Financial Services has teamed up with the Safe Buying Experience (SBE) to "provide a safe and secure process for buying properties in Spain".
Properties that are on sale through the SBE will have been through a strict accreditation process, which includes having a legal team inspecting all documents and licenses for relevant developments.
"Buyers would like nothing better than upfront reassurance that their dream home abroad has been built in accordance with planning rules and regulations and they’re not going to be burdened with a poor or unenforceable contract after handing over their reservation deposit, said Ben Marson, SBE’s head of legal.
The strengthening of the euro in the last few weeks has caused demand for Spanish property to decline, but it still remains the most popular location for Brits buying a home abroad.
Spain is to be taken to the European Court of Justice to face charges for "land-grabbing" legislation in Valencia, it was recently announced.
