CRC discussed child rights and children issues.
CHITRAL: Child Rights Committee Chitral (CRC) expressed great concern over corporal punishment in some government schools of Chitral. During an extra ordinary meeting of CRC under the chair of Engineer Temour Shah Coordinator and Mrs. Nasreen Deputy Coordinator different issues regarding child rights and their violations were discussed. The meeting was also attended by Niaz Ali Shah Chairman Board of Director Legal Awareness Program for Human Rights Chitral and lawyers members of CRC. Addressing on the occasion Eng. Temour Shah said that CRC had debunked for some time and that is why no fund was issued to CRC Chitral for the last 3 years. He said that although international donor agencies are funding to SPARC but they supporting CRC further due to discontinuation of their activities and no proper meeting of the committee. He demanded from the SPARC (Society for Protection of Rights of Children) for releasing fund and continuation of their financial support to CRC Chitral for protection of child rights. A member of CRC raised an issued raised by a lady councilor of union council Ayun regarding corporal punishment of a student by Principal of Government high School Ayun. Ruling on the issue the CRC coordinator detailed a committee under the leading of Professor Dost Muhammad for facts finding in this regard while an other committee under the supervision of Abdul Ghaffar was detailed to visit district Jail (prison) Chitral. Deputy Coordinator also collected rupees 200 as member ship fee from CRC members and decided to expand membership network for activating the committee to protect child rights in the entire district.
