Srinagar, June 19 (Scoop News) – The Speaker, Lok Sabha Ms. Meira Kumar arrived at Srinagar in connection with inauguration of the 75th All India Presiding Officers Conference scheduled to commence from tomorrow.
At the Srinagar International airport Ms. Kumar was accorded warm reception by the Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Mohammad Akbar Lone, Deputy Chairman Legislative Council, S. Arvinder Singh Micky, Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand, Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Ali Mohammad Sagar, Deputy Speaker, J&K Legislative Assembly, Mohammad Sartaj Madni, Secretary General Lok Sabha P.D.T. Achary, Secretary J&K Legislative Council, G.R. Mehboobi, Secretary Legislative Assembly, M. Ramzan, Noted Gandhian S.P. Verma and other senior officers of the administration.
Ms. Meira Kumar shall inaugurate an exhibition titled “Legislatures in India: The Pillars of Democracy” in the premises of Jammu and Kashmir Legislature Complex. She will also inaugurate a Photo Exhibition organized by the J&K Information Department regarding developmental activities undertaken during the present coalition Government led by Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah.
The presiding officers Conference is being held in J&K for the 4th time. Previous Conferences were held in the State in 1954, 1970 and 1987.
