Minister for Sports, Taj Mohi ud Din with players
Jammu, December 06, (Scoop News)- The State Speedball Championship-2013 concluded here today. The championship was jointly by Department of Youth Services & Sports and J&K Speedball Association.
Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services & Sports, Taj Mohi ud Din was the chief guest on the occasion who distributed prizes among the players.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the Minister said Government intends to inculcate sports culture among the youth and for this it has embarked on a massive infrastructure development programme. He said sports network in the State is being given a re look and every block would be provided with a sports complex, including an indoor stadium and every panchayat would have a sports field.
Asking youth to take active interest in new games, Taj said besides conventional games youth should take active interest in new sports disciplines and bring laurels to the State.
The Minister assured the players of Speedball that he would get the game included in the affiliated list of the Sports Council and enlist the game in the sports curriculum of the State as well.
Later, the Minister distributed prizes among the winning players of the game.
Director General, Youth Services & Sports, Navin Aggarwal and other officers, players and sports lovers were present on the occasion.
