LONDON – The British overseas security service has recently been using social networking site Facebook to assist in its recruitment drive.
A Foreign Office spokeswoman emphasized the need for MI6 to build up its network of agents.
"The open recruitment campaign continues to target wide pools of talent representative of British society today," she said.
"A number of channels are used to promote job opportunities in the organization. Facebook is a recent example."
In order to reach out to a more varied slice of the population, MI6 started posting job advertisements on Facebook a few weeks ago.
The intelligence service has been recruiting through the mass media for over two years.
Besides looking through the papers or listening to radio, would-be spies can also visit MI6’s website at www.sis.gov.uk to apply for a job.
