Jammu, March 21 (Scoop News) – J&K Minister for Youth Service & Sports, Medical & Technical Education, R. S. Chib today stressed upon the youth of the State to participate in a big way in Strength Lifting Competition.
The Minister was speaking after inauguration of 17th Men, Women and Masters National Strength Lifting Championship 2010-11, 9th Masters, Men, Women and Masters National Strength Lifting Championship and 3rd Senior Men, Women and Masters National Strength Lifting Championship at Jammu this afternoon.
Appreciating the efforts of the J&K Strength Lifting Association (JKSLA) for organizing such a repute event here, the Minister asked the organizers to hold such competitions at block and tehsil levels to channelize the hidden talent of the State. He said the youth of the State have enormous potential in every field and need of the hour is to take the steps for channelizing their hidden potential in right perspective.
Director Information & Public Relations, Khwaja Farooq Renzushah, Director Youth Service & Sports and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
The Minister said that the participation of National and International players would encourage J&K youths so that they participate in this activity in a big way. He said the event would help the State that more younger boys and girls would join Strength Lifting game by participating various competitions with the help of State level Association as well as international competitions. As the game is open for female participants also, the Minister hoped that more young girls would opt the game to brought laurels for the State in the field.
On the occasion, the Minister was informed that the J&K Strength Lifting Association came into existence in the year 2010 to promote Strength Lifting game in the State by way of conducting district and State level championships and added today more than 1000 youth is associated with J&K Strength Lifting Association. He was further informed that Strength Lifting Players have also participated in the national and international championship held at various places from time to time and secured gold, silver and browns medals.
The Prominent players of the State who got Gold, Silver, Bronze medals in Strength Lifting Competition were Vijay Singh Chib, Shashi Paul, Vipul Kohli and Sushil Kumar and the female participant Ms Monika Mehra secured silver medal in the international event held at Kolkata.
