Sri Lankan Government Docs Threatening To Strike Over Delaying Of Internship Appointments

Sri Lankan Government Doctors are threatening to launch a Strike if the Health Ministry fails to appoint 750 Medical Graduates who are waiting for their  Internship Appointments for more then a year before 07th of July.According to the Government Medical Officers Association(GMOA) there will be no Intern Doctors at the Government Hospitals after the 07th of July as the Current Batch of Interns finishes their training on  06th of July.

There are 738 Interns currently serving at the Government Hospitals and if their are no new Interns to replacing  them after the 06th then the Patient Care of the Government Hospitals will become stand still according to the GMOA.

The dealying of appointing new Interns is due to the Health Minister’s faliure to give an appointment for the Internship Appointment Ceromany GMOA further said.Higher Officials of the Health Ministry are not available for comment on the issue.
