Sri Lankan Medical Staff Given Wide Powers To Eradicate Dengue Mosquito Breeding Places

Sri Lankan Health Ministry today gave wide powers to the  MOH’S(Medical Officers Of Health) Deputy MOH’S,Medical officers and Public Health Inspectors(PHI) including the Power  to Inspect the Dengue Mosquito Breeding Places,Arresting  the Mosquito Breeders and Fine them.

As a Measure to Eradicate Dengue Mosquito Breeding Places in Sri Lanka which caused the Spreading of the Dengue Fever throughout Sri Lanka Ministry transferred these Powers which are earlier vested with Director General Of Health Services.Ministry Of Health already issued A Special Circular to the relevant authorities regarding the transfering of these Powers to the Medical Staff.

Dengue Epidemic claimed 90 lives in Sri Lanka since January this year to up to now and all together around 7277 Dengue Patients were reported during this period.Majority of these were reported from the Colombo District.

Meanwhile a Hotline is set up by the Health Ministry for people to inform about the Dengue Mosquito Breeders.
