The Sri Lankan cricket team, which came under a brazen terror attack here leaving five of its players injured, on Tuesday returned home by a special chartered plane dispatched by Colombo. A Pakistan cricket Board official present at the airport said the flight left with all the Lankan players and officials. The Sri Lankan President had sent the special flight to Lahore following the attack which left five Sri Lankan players wounded and their assistant coach injured. Thilan Samaraweera, who sustained a gunshot wound in the leg, and opener Tharanga Paranavitana, who was shot in the chest, also left for home and are said to be in stable condition, the official said. Eight people, most of them security guards escorting the Sri Lankan players to Gaddafi Stadium for the third day’s play in the second and final test match with Pakistan, were killed when the terrorists attacked the luxury bus they were travelling in. The Sri Lankan team has called of its tour of Pakistan. Punjab Governor Salman Taseer and other senior officials were present at the airport to see off the Lankan team, who were brought there under tight security.
