Srinagar-Kargil-Leh NH widening project on war footing

 

Srinagar,May 27 (Scoop News) –  J&K Chief secretary,  Madhav Lal today reviewed the progress of land acquisition for widening of two lane Srinagar- Gumari- Kargil – Leh National Highway- 1D road project, at a high level meeting here.

 

Financial Commissioner Revenue,  Pramode Jain, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir,  Asgar  Samoon, Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal,  Showkat Ahmad Mir, Deputy Comissioner Kargil, Deputy Commissioner Leh,  Chief Engineer VIJYAK,  Anil Kumar, Col. Haraish Kumar from BRO, Senior officers of GRIEF and Collectors of land Acquisition of three districts were present in the meeting.

 

The meeting was informed that total land acquisition required for the project is 1916 kanals  and 10 marlas falling in 57 villages of three districts, out of which 1610 kanals and 2 marlas was already handed over to  the Border Road Organization.

 

 It was given out that an amount of Rs 82.77 crore have been received from BRO by deputy commissioners of Ganderbal, Kargil and Leh which includes Rs 72.19 crore recived by Ganderbal district, Rs. 6.36 crore by Kargil and Rs. 4.22 crore by Leh district. Out of which an amount of Rs 46.96 crore were disbursed among the land holders which include Rs. 38.94 crore were disbursed by Ganderbal, Rs.4.89 crore by Kargil and Rs.3.13 crore by Leh districts , the meeting informed.

 

The meeting decided that the bottlenecks on 13 kms in Ganderbal district, 22 kms in Kargil district and 9 Kms in Leh district of the project would be cleared by sorting out the issues.

 

Chief Secretary directed all the Deputy Commissioners to speed up the remaining land acquisition cases within the shortest possible time. He directed the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir to convene a separate meeting with PDD to sort out the issue of shifting of distribution lines coming in the way at certain road segments.

 

 Madhav Lal also directed the BRO to speed up the widening work and up gradation of roads on war footing basis as major portion of the land acquired by the State Government has been already handed over to the organization.
