March 4 – The Chief Minister , Omar Abdullah today said that the ruling alliance of National Conference and Congress will fight the upcoming Parliamentary elections together even as he said the issue of seat sharing would be discussed with the Congress leaders.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of his visit to the Tulip Garden in Srinagar Kashmir, the Chief Minister said that it was good if separatist leaders were thinking of joining electoral politics. He said by doing so they could put their point of view before the people in a better way.
The Chief Minister condemned the Lahore terror attack on Sri Lankan cricketers and described it as an unfortunate incident. Asked about Pakistan accusing India for the attack, he said the neighboring country had not directly raised an accusing finger on India but blamed some foreign powers. He said Pakistan had now itself become a victim of terror and there was urgent need for that country to realise it. He called for a joint fight against the terror by the world community. He hoped that Pakistan stabilises soon as a stable Pakistan was in the interest of the entire region.
Regarding, Bomai incident, the Chief Minister said that he had come to know that the inquiry report has reached the Chief Secretary and that he was waiting for the report. “Anybody found guilty will be punished”, he said, adding that zero tolerance on human rights violations was not a mere slogan.
In reply to a question on tourism in the State, Omar Abdullah said that economic recession has somewhat affected the tourism sector in Jammu and Kashmir and expressed the hope that the tourist arrivals will pick up in the coming months. He asked Bollywood movie makers to come to Kashmir for shooting their films saying it would which would generate economic activity.(Read more at- www.scoopnews.in)
